No one ever mentions that none of the budgets either party ever proposes would cut a dime from Israel.
You know the Ryan slash-and-starve budget? It is the official GOP budget which passed the House and is the plan Mitt Romney is running on. It cuts every program in government. It would turn Medicare into a private insurance plan. Its cuts health benefits for veterans. Education. Cancer research. Everything. Even the military.
It does not touch aid to Israel.
Remember that budget plan the White House and Congress agreed on, the one that provided that unless the targets were met, “sequestration” would come into effect and automatically cut every single program. Well, guess what it exempts?
And now it looks like the Republicans are pushing to increase the Israel package by $680 million. I have no doubt the Democrats will agree because they are even more devoted to pleasing AIPAC than Republicans.
No need for much comment. Just read the story.
If only Americans had a lobby as powerful as AIPAC.
