Andrew Sullivan is utterly unintimidated by the “pro-Israel” fasisctocracy that goes after anyone who dares criticize Israeli government policies — no matter if the critics are 60 Minutes, Israeli soldiers, Peter Beinart or, for instance, me.
And he does so by citing by one of the world great Jewish journalists, JJ Goldberg, an editor at the Jewish Forward.
I saw a tweet today by Spencer Ackerman, progressive on everything NOT related to Israel, who expresses the hope that neocon Eli Lake (his best friend) and Peter Beinart (his idol) both wind up on the same side some day.
No, Spencer, that won’t happen. Peter has chosen to abandon tribal group think.
As with me, boychik, the words of that great hymn apply to him: “I once was lost but now I’m found. Was blind but now I see.”
Once you see, you don’t choose blindness. It’s not all about real or imagined bloodlines.
